Is Discord down right now?

Checking Discord…

Reading the latest checks from UptimeTea monitors…

Discord hosts voice, video and chat for gaming groups, open source projects and product communities. When it is down, communities and bots go silent.

What we are checking

These are real UptimeTea monitors, not a scrape of Discord's own status page. Each is requested every minute from several locations, and a failure is re-verified from an independent location before it counts.

Checking…

Discord.com

The Discord website and browser app.

Checking…

Discord API

The public gateway endpoint of the Discord API, which every bot and client asks before connecting.

Second opinion: Discord's official status page. Vendors update it after they confirm an incident, which is usually minutes after it starts.

What to do when Discord is down

  1. 1

Check your bot before blaming Discord

If the monitors above are green, a bot that went offline is usually hitting rate limits or using an expired token. Check its logs first.

  2. 2

Let reconnects happen on their own

Discord clients and bot libraries reconnect with backoff. Restarting them repeatedly during an outage only adds to the load.

  3. 3

    Post updates somewhere else

If your community lives on Discord, keep a status page or social account to tell people what is going on while it is down.

Frequently asked questions

How do you know if Discord is down?
UptimeTea monitors load discord.com and the public Discord API gateway endpoint every minute from several locations. A failed check is re-verified from an independent location before it counts.
Discord is stuck on 'connecting'. Is it down?
Sometimes. It can also be your network, a VPN or a firewall blocking the gateway. If the monitors above are green, try another network or the browser app.
Does a Discord outage affect voice and text equally?
Not always. Voice runs on separate regional servers. The official status page often shows voice degraded in one region while messaging works.
Can I get an alert when my Discord bot goes down?
Yes. Have your bot ping a heartbeat monitor in UptimeTea. If the ping stops, you are alerted by email, SMS or phone.
