Is Shopify down right now?

Checking Shopify…

Reading the latest checks from UptimeTea monitors…

Shopify runs online stores, checkouts and point-of-sale for millions of merchants. When it is down, stores stop taking orders.

What we are checking

These are real UptimeTea monitors, not a scrape of Shopify's own status page. Each is requested every minute from several locations, and a failure is re-verified from an independent location before it counts.

Checking…

Shopify.com

Shopify's main website, served from the same platform as merchant stores.

Checking…

Shopify sign-in

accounts.shopify.com, where merchants and staff log in to the Shopify admin.

Second opinion: Shopify's official status page. Vendors update it after they confirm an incident, which is usually minutes after it starts.

What to do when Shopify is down

  1. 1

Check your storefront, not just the admin

The admin, checkout and storefronts are separate components. The admin can be slow while your store keeps selling. Open your own store in a private window.

  2. 2

Pause paid ads if checkout fails

Traffic you pay for during a checkout outage is money lost. Pause campaigns until orders go through again.

  3. 3

Rule out an app or theme change

If the monitors above are green, a recently installed app or theme edit is the usual suspect. Roll it back and test again.

Frequently asked questions

How do you know if Shopify is down?
UptimeTea monitors load shopify.com and the Shopify sign-in page every minute from several locations. A failed check is re-verified from an independent location before it counts.
My store is down but Shopify says it is up. Why?
Custom domains, DNS changes, apps and theme code can all break a single store while the platform is fine. Check your domain settings and recently changed apps.
Are orders lost during a Shopify outage?
Orders that completed are kept. Checkouts started during an outage may fail, and customers may need to try again. Some payment providers retry on their side.
Can I get an alert when my Shopify store goes down?
Yes. Add your store URL as a monitor in UptimeTea and you are told the moment it fails. The free plan includes 50 monitors.
